Conversations with The Honorable Landon Peason O.C. – Part 4

Part 4 of the 4 Part Series with Senator Landon Pearson

In this last video clip with Senator Landon Pearson, she discusses the new life style that has overtaken so many of us, especially young people. It is the lifestyle of needing to be constantly connected to our mobile devices and social media outlets. Teenagers and young adults who are the Digital Natives amongst us, are desperately trying to communicate using differing formats than what WE are accustomed to. The WE, includes people from around the age of 40 onwards. WE are better known as Digital Immigrants. Technology as WE know it today, was not around when WE were in our teens and twenties.

As our two worlds collide, Landon reminds us that in order to belong, we need to acknowledge and continually practice the important art of face-to-face communication. It is a vital connection that we must continue to nurture with those around us in order to develop close and personal relationships. These close and personal relationships are critical to the development and growth of our children and our children’s children.

As Senator Pearson highlights, the entire world is now connected in one way or another through globalization, including the use of telecommunications and trade. There are positives and negatives associated with globalization. Yet it is imperative that we all understand, both young and old, the effects that the demise of emphasizing and practicing face-to-face communication, has upon our society, both for now and in the future.

As you listen to the video clip by Senator Landon Pearson, she continues to impart wisdom to all of us. It is my hope that you will reflect upon her wise words and attempt to make positive changes within your own family.
