Be Strong When Life Brings You a Storm

“Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you.  He will not leave you nor forsake you” – Deuteronomy 31:6

The month of April usually means flowers blooming, a lot of rain and spring like weather.  However, this past April, we welcomed an ice storm on April 14th and 15th.  It was a weekend and people usually have plans and places to go.  We had a communion that day and we managed to make it there and back safely. For the rest of the weekend, we were forced to stay indoors to be safe.

This storm caught everyone off guard.  The week before was beautiful and sunny, it was hard to believe that we were experiencing this weather in April.  Life can be like that at times, you think everything is going well and then suddenly, a storm rages into your life.  You are left feeling unprepared and out of sorts. Storms could range from a health issue, losing your job, or marriage difficulties.

When those life storms come, we can be secure that God is protecting us and keeping us safe from harm.  We need to have faith that we will get through the difficult times and that God will always provide a way out.  Just like after the ice storm, there came sunshine and warm weather soon after, so life will brighten up for you too.  God will never leave us or forsake us. We can be sure of that!

Dear Heavenly Father, when life is unpredictable and throws us over the edge, please stay near us and protect us.  We trust that this too shall pass and cannot wait to see how you will help us through these difficulties. Amen.
