Always Follow the Greatest BFF

Mimi’s Mini Devotionals

Life can be so much fun when you have a BFF to hang out with. Someone you talk and text with to all hours of the morning. Someone to share pictures, shoes or clothes with. Someone who is there to play pitch with or some one on one at the court. But sometimes those BFF’s can become a stumbling block to us. They may make a bad choice and then want you to join in and when you do not join in they apply pressure for you to do so. They call that peer pressure. The famous line they use is “come on every one is doing it”.

First let Mimi tell you everyone is not doing it and second, if it is something you know is wrong, because Christ lives in your heart you have the power and wisdom to tell your BFF this statement. “Hey BFF, not everyone is doing it, because I am not.”

Peer pressure is one of the hardest things to go through in your teen years. You may be told by your BFF that “one drink or cigarette will not hurt”, “that you do not need to wear your seatbelt in my car”, “I will not tell anyone we were making out” or “just put it in your purse or pocket no one is looking”. All LIES. And as a child of God we know that lies come straight from Satan. Satan would love for you to do wrong because of peer pressure. He watches and waits for an opportunity for you to do what is wrong in the sight of the Lord. Satan also loves it when your BFF says, “well if you do not do this or that then we are no longer friends”. Don’t fall for that. It’s is the ultimate pressure.

So how do we win against peer pressure? We apply prayer pressure.

We pray and ask God to give us the wisdom to make the better choice. We ask God to give us the strength to tell our BFF that they need to do what is right. We pray that God will help our BFF to see our point of view or accept our choice. And we thank God for Jesus who is the Greatest BFF to follow forever.

You my child are so fortunate and blessed because you have the Greatest BFF to tell you what to do living in your heart. And that BFF is Jesus. He truly is your “BESTIE” because He only wants what is best for you. Our other BFF’s may think they do, but Jesus really knows what is best for you.

The next time someone is trying to make you do something you know in your heart is wrong, call out to your BFF Jesus, ask Him to teach you what to do and He will help you to choose the right way.

Look at some of what the Bible teaches us about friends and doing what is right.

“There are “friends” who destroy each other, but a real friend sticks closer than a brother.” – Proverbs 18:24 NLT

“Teach me, Lord, what you want me to do, and lead me along a safe path, because I have many enemies.” – Psalm 27:11 GNT

“The Lord is the friend of those who obey him and he affirms his covenant with them.” – Psalm 25:14 GNT

“And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him.” – 1 John 5:14 NLT

“Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.” – Psalm 118:29 NIV

Mimi loves you and is praying that you will not give in to peer pressure and that you use Prayer pressure every time️️.
